The Boston Marathon Bombing

April 17, 2013

CAM00018

I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and opportunity at the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15, 2013. I am troubled by the needless injury and the stress, confusion and heartbreak this event caused to runners on one of the momentous race days in America. There is no larger international marathon stage than the Boston Marathon. Without a doubt, all of us were personally affected by this tragedy, but collectively, our condolences go out to the families of Martin Richard, Krystle Campbell and the Chinese graduate student. Our hearts go out to these victims and those of the families who…

Juneau woman wins ultramarathon bike race

Reposted with permission from KTOO News   Dr. Janice Sheufelt had no idea she could win an ultra-cycling event. After years of competing in short bike races, she just started long distance training in the last year. “I figured, well, I’m doing all this training, it would be a good year to do an ultra – ultra meaning extra-long distance bike race,” says Sheufelt. She found the Furnace Creek 508 on the Internet. Despite its name, the course is actually 509 miles. Controversy Over Tony Stafford’s World Record…It Didn’t Count.

April 7, 2011

Stafford’s custom-made pack provided by backpack outfitter Kelty was disputed because it was a combination vest/pack instead of…
