Bare-Chested Men A Draw At Half Marathon

On October 2, 2010, the Run Like A Diva Half Marathon will have bare-chested firefighters at the end of the race to hand out race ribbons. Ok, I get it….bare-Chested men at a race are supposed to be enticing……FOR WOMEN.  Lately, there have been some “race mishaps” when some very unassuming men won some very high-profile women’s races…and pissed the women off.  Since I am a woman, I’ll tell you that I am in favor of having women’s races be about women for women. But men are allowed to enter these races, despite the pink t-shirts and girly headbands. Look,…

The Falmouth Road Race will be run next weekend along the beautiful shores of southern Massachusetts. If you’ve never run this beautiful 7.1 mile race I’d recommend it….if you can get in that it. My neighbor, Evan Sherr, and I used to try and run it every year until we started getting shut out of the race due to it’s popularity. Last year’s winner, Tilahun Regassa (19) from Ethiopia crossed the finished line easily but won’t be racing this year. USA’s Meb Keflezigi (35) the 2004 Olympic Silver medalist, IMG New York Marathon’s 2009 winner and the American record holder…

Racing Season – Getting To Philadelphia

July 14, 2010
By

Well, it’s racing season. For me at least. I am trying to fit in training for the Philadelphia 1/2 Marathon before running off to Spain. Anyway, starting up training in the heat of the summer is not very appealing to me, but completing a great race this fall is; therefore, any of you who want to train alon with me can; and we can keep each…

First Time Mother Runs 10K 4 Months Post Partum. My neighbor, Jaime, came up to me last night at a neighborhood happy hour. She was wearing her 4 month old son, Evan, in a Bjorn facing forwards. I offered to hold while she ate. We talked about breast-feeding and pumping; all those new mom conversations still fresh in my mind even though my children are 7 and 4 years old. Her husband, Luke, approached and after we caught him up on our conversation Jaime turned to me and said, “I’m, well, we’re running a 10K tomorrow, what do I eat beforehand?” I…
